It's a fascinating flick, if not always for the "right" reasons!
Cheers, Rick http://ricksrealreel.blogspot.com/https://www.blogger.com/profile/14243899548141583461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2473857081653339896.post-79862728294733056612020-08-03T16:20:16.667-04:002020-08-03T16:20:16.667-04:00Hi Rick - although this is one of my favorite film...Hi Rick - although this is one of my favorite films, I must totally agree with you about Davis’s completely over the top performance. This is the one where she really started to become a parody of herself. Coburn too overdoes it as the lecherous uncle, and even Billie Burke is annoying as the hypochondriacal mother upstairs. But it is a real guilty pleasure for me, maybe because of all the hamming! I am always touched by the wonderful performances Anderson and McDaniel and deHavilland’s quietly dignity as well. And yes, Olivia is gorgeous while Bette is tarted up like a drag queen...but somehow I suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the ride!!!
- Chrisangelman66https://www.blogger.com/profile/16471674180789592940noreply@blogger.com
