I'm glad this gorgeous model had a good life, esp. with charmer Bradford Dillman. She was the face of 50s fashion, a true and lasting icon. In contrast to her weepy role here, in real life she married actor Bradford Dillman and went on to live a long and happy life as mother, wife and activist.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2473857081653339896.post-8310133728818579802019-07-18T15:33:35.596-04:002019-07-18T15:33:35.596-04:00I think we love this movie for all the same reason...I think we love this movie for all the same reasons. What I really enjoy about this movie is that it is so 50's and in Manhattan which was a great time and place to be. If I remember correctly when reading Joan Crawford's bio (most recent and well written one) she had a hard time doing this. Her time was over. In 1945 it was over she couldn't get work but then along came Mildred Pierce which got her an Oscar and noticed but the time on top again was short lived. I always like watching her. I thought she was a very good actress. Worked hard and was a real pro. When you watch her earlier 1930 movies which was her heyday you see how beautiful she once was before she hardened her looks. Yes, it is too bad Hope Lange did not have a much bigger career. I remember watching her TV show The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Diane Baker's character was such a ditz you wanted to tell her to wake up! He's a creep! Played so well by Evans. I always remember Stephen Boyd from The Oscar. bizzohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11060688260180019964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2473857081653339896.post-40362251178117089142017-05-01T18:47:16.212-04:002017-05-01T18:47:16.212-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05375113814013824665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2473857081653339896.post-83331135658277098822017-04-04T08:18:53.016-04:002017-04-04T08:18:53.016-04:00Of course I worship this movie, but you inadverten...Of course I worship this movie, but you inadvertently gave me a mental image... What if there had been a Technicolor 1962 movie in which Stephen Boyd and Sean Connery played two NYC business men who unexpectedly fell in love! What a ticket that would be. LOL One thing (among many) that I admired about Joan was that even though that fiery copper hair is a bit shocking to behold at first, it is an exact replication of how Miss Farrow was described in the book. She wanted to BE that character (though it was disappointing to read the book and find that Amanda wasn't nearly as featured or as fleshed out as Joan's version in the film. She pretty much created the woman from scraps and bits.) Poseidon3https://www.blogger.com/profile/10465785002285422594noreply@blogger.com
